Health + Thermal

A second sensor layer alongside behaviour.

The thermal module clicks on underneath the same Equisense Stable unit. Behaviour and radiometric temperature information come together in the same Cavalett app.

The core

Radiometric measurement

Not a coloured picture, but a measured temperature for every pixel. Thermal places it alongside the behaviour from Health, so you see both together.

  • Behaviour
  • Temperature

What Thermal makes visible

  • Temperature trend per horse
  • Left/right asymmetry
  • Local temperature differences
  • Recovery monitoring
  • Combining behaviour + temperature
  • Legs / hooves to follow after validation

Temperature values are indicative. Compare left/right and with previous days.

Radiometric thermal image of a horse in the stall. The body shows orange to yellow, the cool background purple. A measuring point of 27.1 °C is shown at the head, with the temperature scale on the right.

The thermal image

How to read what Thermal sees.

This is a real image from the Thermal module. Warm shows as yellow and orange, cool shows as purple. Every pixel has a measured temperature.

  1. Measuring point

You can read the temperature at any point, here 27.1 °C at the head. The value is indicative; the difference from previous days tells you the most.

  2. Warm and cool zones

The thermal image shows where the body is warmer or cooler. That makes local differences stand out.

  3. Comparing left and right

Thermal puts both sides side by side. Legs and hooves will follow after validation.

  4. Temperature scale

The scale on the right of the image shows which colour matches which temperature in degrees Celsius.

In the app

Temperature and behaviour on one screen.

In the Cavalett app, skin temperature sits right next to your horse's live view, status and movement. One tap and you see how it has changed over time.

  • Temperature right now

The overview shows the current skin temperature, with the time of the latest measurement.

  • The last 30 days

The average for each day and the range from low to high. Tap a day to see how that day went.

  • Only meaningful measurements

Thermal measures when your horse is in the stable and nobody else is in there. A gap in the graph is a moment without a measurement.

Why temperature matters

  • Differences stand out

A difference between left and right, or a spot that is warmer than usual, is visible at a glance in the thermal image.

  • Trends instead of a single measurement

A single temperature says little. Thermal shows the course over days, so you see what is changing.

  • Following recovery

After rest or treatment, follow how the temperature picture develops compared with previous days.

  • Something concrete for your vet

With thermal images and trends you have something concrete to discuss with your vet or yard manager.

Thermal provides indicative, radiometric temperature information and does not make diagnoses. Legs and hooves will follow after validation. If you have any doubts about your horse's health, contact your vet.
